About us

Overview

The Phylloxera and Grape Industry Board of South Australia (PGIBSA) is committed to protecting South Australian vineyards from phylloxera and providing effective pest and disease management policies and information to industry and government.

It is the only body of its type in the world established specifically to deal with phylloxera.

PGIBSA derives its functions and powers from the Phylloxera and Grape Industry Act (1995) and is responsible to the South Australian Parliament through the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Fisheries, Hon Rory McEwen MP.

That the winegrowing industry in South Australia will secure its long-term sustainability by adopting appropriate strategies to improve vineyard biosecurity, vine health and grape production.

Our mission

To protect South Australian vineyards from phylloxera and other major pests and diseases; and assist and support the grape industry in its initiatives.

Our goals

  • Keep South Australia free from phylloxera
  • Minimise the risk of exotic pests and diseases
  • Vineyards that are healthy and sustainable
  • Manage the Board's resources to achieve maximum return on grower levies.
