Importation of grapevines into South Australia
Grapevines can only be imported into South Australia from declared Phylloxera Exclusion Zones in Victoria and New South Wales, and from WA and Tasmania (see Phylloxera Management Zones map). A declaration form must be completed by the person wishing to import the vines, and the vines must be hot water treated by the interstate nursery immediately before transport to SA.
Before completing a declaration form, please read the following important information for growers and interstate nurseries bringing grapevines into SA.
Steps for importing grapevines into South Australia
- Complete a declaration form online or contact the office to obtain a paper copy of the form. The declaration form must be completed by the RECEIVER of the vines in South Australia.
- Please allow at least three to five working days for the documentation process to be completed, before the consignment is due to be dispatched.
- Once we have received your application, we will process it within 24 hours. If it is approved, the documentation will be sent to the supplier (interstate nursery). The original approved declaration form issued by us, together with the Plant Health Certificate, MUST travel with the plants or cuttings. A copy of the declaration form will also be provided to the supplier and to PIRSA for their records.
- When you have received your consignment, you must call, fax or email us with the Plant Health Certificate number and date of arrival into SA. You are required to keep the import declaration form and the Plant Health Certificate for a minimum of 12 months as we do conduct audits of imports every year.
